The agenda for this conference is outlined below.
The conference programme will include presentations by speakers drawn
primarily from public authorities, with a prominent participation of government
ministry officials from various EU countries as well as from the European
Commission. The focus is on concrete plans, policies and actual implementations
of Libre Software and open standards.
There will be a spotlight on case studies – among others, a presentation
on the European Regional Innovation Award-winning gnu/Linux policies of
Extremadura by Regional Minister Luis Millan Vazquez de Miguel. Successful
strategies will be presented for the large-scale migration and implementation
of Libre software in government – including the German Federal Government’s
Migration Guidelines.
Most of the presentations will be organised in three topical sessions
on:
- national and EU-level strategies and experiences (chaired by Agnès
Bradier, deputy head of the e-Government Unit, European Commission)
- local government strategies and results (chaired by Wilbert Stolte,
Vice-mayor of Den Haag)
- interoperability and open standards (chaired by Bernhard Schnittger,
acting head of IDA, European Commission)
